Residents of Morocco

For residents of Morocco, you must compile the following documents:

  • a request to take charge of a child addressed to the guardianship judge and legalised by the couple
  • a certificate of residence
  • an attestation of salary or legalised salary declaration
  • photocopy of the marriage certificate
  • police records of the couple
  • photocopies of the National identity cards of the couple
  • ID photos of the couple
  • pulmonary X-rays of the couple
  • certificates of good health for the couple

Residents of other countries

Same documents as the adjacent list, plus :

 

  • Agreement from social services of their country of residence
  • Certificate of conversion to islam for non-muslims

For a single woman: same documents as above, except for the photocopy of the marriage certificate that should be replaced by single status certificate or certificate of divorce or husband's death record. 

 

Administrative steps following compilation of the file

  1. Interview with the director of the establishment for a psychological assesment
  2. Social inquiry
  3. Presentation of the child
  4. Medical visit with the child in a private practice chosen by the parents
  5. Deposit of the file to the guardianship judge
  6. The judge sends a copy of the file to the Prosecutor in order for him to set up an inquiry with the judicial police concerning the couple + an inquiry with the Ministry of Solidarity, Woman, Family and Social Development (the couple must follow-up on their file )
  7. Following the results of the inquiries, the deputy public prosecutor and members of the commission meet to give their opinion on the couple. The report is sent to the guardianship judge for final agreement, who then transfers it to the President of the Tribunal for execution.
  8. The child is handed over to the parents during a meeting with the deputy public Royal Prosecutor, in the presence of a representative of the Ministry of the interior, the social assistant, the Mounaffid (representative of the tribunal) , the couple and the child.
