Girls and boys live in the centre for life. Amina, the eldest, born in 1970 is still with us!
The premises
Our premises are geared to the motor difficulties of our residents and to their different handicaps. Built on one floor, Baouafi centre is a star-like structure with separate spaces, one of which is reserved for adolescents. Residents can take advantage of the large yard which includes a vegetable garden and a playground sport.
The staff
The staff at the center is composed of about 50 people, divided into 3 teams, which include 33 monitors and childcare assistants.
Moreover, we benefit from the services of speech therapists, physiotherapists, psychologists, psychiatrists and specialised educators. But, unfortunately, our needs are far from being satisfied .

Life at the centre
Here again, we have made every effort to provide fun, educational activities adapted to our residents’ handicaps: painting, gardening,…music etc; these are pleasant moments full of laughter and sharing to brighten their day.
Some of our residents are schooled externally. This concerns the physically handicapped and some mentally impaired children who attend specialised schools: gardening , hairdressing .
The typical day of a child schooled outside the premises
- 7:00 am : wake up time
- 7:30 am : breakfast
- 8:00 am : departure for school by school bus
- 6:00 pm : return to the centre by school bus
- 7:00 pm : homework
- 8:00 pm : relaxation ,TV and getting ready for bed
